Painfree

Yesterday a friend and I gave Reiki to a 94 year old woman in a nursing home, who is suffering with badly swollen knees from arthritis and who has been bed bound for some time because of the pain. Reesa was quiet throughout the session, her hands folded peacefully across her chest. Placing my hands on her, I could feel her peacefulness and the love that flowed from her. The effects of the Reiki were evident. Her legs, which were heavy and swollen to twice their size began twitching and she began rolling her ankles as the energy flowed into them. I watched her face, wondering what she was feeling, and suddenly her eyes opened and she winked at me. I commented to her about the lovingness I felt when I touched her. She said, pointing to her chest, "Oh yeah, I got a lotta love in here." When the session was complete, she asked us what it was we had just done. We told her, Reiki. She could not wrap her tongue around the word, so we said it was a healing touch. We asked her how she felt. She remarked, "fine, I've never felt this way before. No pain." Then she called us Angels and told us she would pray for us and to please visit her again soon.

That evening Reesa's daughter called to ask what we had done for her mother. When she had arrived at the nursing home that afternoon, Reesa was standing with her walker awaiting her arrival. Painfree, she had gotten herself out of bed and made her way down the long, winding hallway to the front lobby of the building, something she hadn't been able to do for some time.
