Shining Out
The intention of Shining Out is to honour Reiki - to honour the potency of this healing light. One of the ways we can do this is to tell our stories and share our experiences.
Reiki took over my life in 1990 and by 1994 I became a teacher and master. Many wonderful experiences happend to me, to my students and to my clients. Living with Reiki for so long has taught me how how it changes lives. Its transformative power seems unlimited.
The oral teaching and story of Reiki is passed from teacher to student. But our stories are untapped. By sharing them, we offer encouragement to each other. We have a wealth of personal experience to share. We have a treasure trove of unexpressed healing tucked away in our memories. Telling the heart-opening, and the thought-provoking, will make obvious the common love that radiates its golden light throughout our lives by living with and honouring the energy we call Reiki.
Shining Out will provide a forum for the transformative, the mystical, the beatific and the loving stories we know are part of our experience of Reiki. I urge you to write about, draw about or wax poetically about your healing experiences; your opening experiences; your life-changing experiences. By sharing your stories, you offer support to each other in your practice of Reiki.
Won't you share your stories?

How to Submit
You may email your stories to shiningout@spiritualtutoring.com.
June 9th - Please note that we have had technical difficulties receiving emails. Please resend any emails to which you did not receive a response. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The stories received may be edited to remove any of the following:
- Any part of the oral tradition that is shared in a class
- References to types or forms of Reiki
- I trust you will take care of typos but will certainly look out for them.
Eventually the number of stories may require me to categorize them, but in these early days I will use your titles.
By submitting your story, you tacitly agree to allow me to publish it here on my site, or in my newsletter or other publication.
Please let me know if you want your full name or perhaps your email or webaddress or some combination of these to acknowledge your authorship.
Deepening the Experience
Student's experiences with Reiki vary. Some initiates may imme- diately have a healing event which is powerful and life changing. Some witness or have their own physical, mental, or emotional shifts into healing that is permanent. These events change the whole context of the student's life.
In stark contrast, are others who experience Reiki as dilute, powerless and quite disappointing. They don't feel the flow of Reiki, or they experience it as inconsistent. These students become discouraged. They may give up on the whole idea of channeling energy, or they search for a 'better' modality. They may even decide they cannot 'do' Reiki like others and so they let it go. They make the error of thinking that the teacher or the master has the power to heal, rather than realizing what is flowing from their hands heals when events are potential.
To deepen your experience of the potency of Reiki try using an "I do nothing, Reiki does it all" stance. A few days of consistent self-treatment, a few days of soaking in Reiki energy, even a few days of sharing about it with your peers, can change your whole experience of this wonderful Light.
As we gracefully accept that we do nothing but offer our self as the conduit, profound healing experiences are more likely to occur. I encourage you to Trust Reiki - Shift happens.
